Football Recap: Zephyrhills Christian Academy Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Zephyrhills Christian Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They had to suffer through a 49-6 loss at the hands of the Lakeland Christian Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Vikings are ranked 163rd).

Josiah Carter threw for 133 yards and one TD. Christopher Trivigno was his top target, picking up 75 receiving yards.

As for Lakeland Christian, the win got them back to even at 1-1. They have beaten Zephyrhills Christian Academy the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Zephyrhills Christian Academy has come to flipping the script.

Lakeland Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Brenneman, who threw for 182 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also rushed for 52 yards and one score. Those four passing touchdowns gave Brenneman a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was AJ Truedell, who rushed for 181 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries.

Looking ahead, Zephyrhills Christian Academy will take on Master's Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakeland Christian, they will challenge Fort Meade at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
