Baseball Game Preview: O'Bannon Greenwaves vs. Charleston Tigers

The O'Bannon Greenwaves will venture away from home to take on the Charleston Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (O'Bannon has three straight victories, Charleston has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

O'Bannon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Leflore County with a sharp 20-8 win on Tuesday. Considering the Greenwaves have won nine games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Chandler Wade was a standout: he scored four runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.3 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Markevion Williams, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Thursday. Charleston took a 20-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of Leflore County. Even if Charleston couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Charleston's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for O'Bannon, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.

Everything went O'Bannon's way against Charleston in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as O'Bannon made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greenwaves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
