Basketball Recap: Burns Makes It Nine in a Row at Home

Burns won the last time they faced Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Burns Bulldogs walked away with a 71-59 win over the Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Gryphons. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 61-41 by the end of the third, a deficit the Gryphons cut but never quite recovered from.

Burns' victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4. As for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-3 record this season.

Burns will venture away from home to face off against Bessemer City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burns knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 contests -- so hopefully Bessemer City likes a good challenge. As for Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, they will face off against East Gaston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Gaston has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
