Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is West Monroe's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

West Monroe won the last time they faced Alexandria and things went their way on Thursday too. The West Monroe Rebels came out on top in a nail-biter against the Alexandria Trojans, sneaking past 2-1.

Drew Ferguson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles.

West Monroe has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. Alexandria's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-8.

Looking ahead, West Monroe will host Captain Shreve at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Alexandria, they will head out on the road to take on West Monroe at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
