Basketball Recap: Valley Comes Up Short

Valley was the 65-64 winner over Las Vegas when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Valley Vikings were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 73-72 to the Las Vegas Wildcats. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (70), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Tayshaun Jackson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Las Vegas, putting up 31 points in addition to six boards and five steals. Jackson's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mychael Walker, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 17 points.

Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Las Vegas, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley will welcome Sunrise Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Valley is facing Sunrise Mountain at the right time seeing as Sunrise Mountain is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Las Vegas, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Foothill at 6:30 p.m. Las Vegas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season.
