Basketball Game Preview: Hays Hawks vs. Akins Eagles

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Hays Hawks take on the Akins Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Friday... Hays will be strutting in after a victory while Akins will be coming in after a defeat.

Hays took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 60-49 win over Lockhart.

Meanwhile, Akins was not able to break out of their rough patch on December 7th as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost to Pflugerville on the road by a 57-39 margin.

Hays' victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Akins, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Hays beat Akins 62-52 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hays since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
