Basketball Recap: Howard Huskies vs. West Laurens Raiders
Howard was the 65-61 winner over West Laurens when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Howard Huskies were dealt a 77-42 loss at the hands of the West Laurens Raiders on Tuesday. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
West Laurens was led to victory by Omarion Coverson and RJ Whipple. Coverson went 6 of 12 en route to 17 points and three steals, while Whipple went 7 of 17 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds. Those 17 points gave Coverson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nas Jones, who posted eight points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Howard's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for West Laurens, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.
Howard will head out to face off against Harlem at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Howard is facing Harlem at the right time seeing as Harlem is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for West Laurens, they will venture away from home to take on Aquinas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Laurens is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.8 points per game this season.
