Softball Recap: Springfield Wildcats vs. Piqua Indians
Springfield let Piqua stack four runs on them in the first inning on Saturday but luckily Springfield prevailed anyway. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Indians 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since April 2nd.
Leeauna Rardon was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Addison Wolford was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Alayna Strayer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Springfield is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Piqua, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.
