Volleyball Recap: Arlen Messier and Nolan Rodgers Secure Win for Westfield

Westfield had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Putnam Vo-Tech on Tuesday. The Bombers put the hurt on the Beavers with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bombers in their matchups with the Beavers: they've now won six in a row.

The final score came out to 25-21, 25-10, 25-12.

Leading Westfield to victory were Nolan Rodgers and Arlen Messier. Rodgers had ten digs and three aces, while Messier had five digs. Those three aces gave Rodgers a new career-high.

Westfield's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Putnam Vo-Tech, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Westfield will head out on the road to square off against Frontier Regional at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Putnam Vo-Tech, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on West Springfield at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
