Football Game Preview: Long Reach Lightning vs. Howard Lions

Long Reach is 1-9 against Howard since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lightning will head out to take on the Lions at 6:00 p.m. Long Reach's defense has only allowed 13.2 points per game this season, so Howard's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Long Reach came up short against River Hill on Saturday, falling 34-14. The loss was the Lightning's first of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Howard). They never let Hammond get on the board and left with a 41-0 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Golden Bears: they've now won seven in a row.

Howard's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Long Reach, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Long Reach was taken down by Howard 34-0 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Lightning avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
