Van Vleck waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Flatonia Bulldogs 8-0. The Leopards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.

Lakyn Matchett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Van Vleck let Adia Kile and Kylie Sazera run wild. Kile scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Sazera scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Alexa Zuniga was another key player, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with one RBI.

Van Vleck's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Flatonia, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Van Vleck didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-6 tie against Industrial on the 1st. As for Flatonia, they will head out on the road to square off against Moulton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
