Basketball Recap: Jovie Graham's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hedgesville over Jefferson

Hedgesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 48-39 to the Jefferson Cougars. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 49-46.

Hedgesville's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jovie Graham, who went 6-for-10 on her way to 15 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Graham a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Bodkins, who posted 11 points and three blocks.

Hedgesville's record is now 3-14. As for Jefferson, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 3-12.

When Hedgesville and Jefferson next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Hedgesville will square off against Keyser and their four-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Jefferson will try to stop East Fairmont's six-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
