Baseball Recap: Malvern Leopards vs. Warren Lumberjacks
Malvern had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 11-11 to make it four. They came up short against the Warren Lumberjacks, falling 16-1. The Leopards were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lumberjacks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.
As for Warren, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
For Warren's part, Nathan Spears made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Spears has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Warren got a massive performance out of Bryson Harris, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Harris a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolby Pope, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
As of now, neither Malvern nor Warren have any future games scheduled.
