Basketball Recap: Pembroke Pines Charter Takes a Loss

Pembroke Pines Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the NSU University Sharks. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sharks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead NSU University to victory, but perhaps none more so than Laly Luque, who went 7 for 8 on her way to 17 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Luque a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Tatum Billie, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points along with five boards and three blocks.

Pembroke Pines Charter's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8. As for NSU University, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Pembroke Pines Charter has already played their next match (against Northeast), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. NSU University has already played their next game, a 64-40 victory against Archbishop McCarthy on the 24th.
