Basketball Game Preview: Central Cabarrus Vikings vs. Concord Spiders

Central Cabarrus is 10-0 against Concord since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Central Cabarrus Vikings will be playing at home against the Concord Spiders at 7:30 p.m. Central Cabarrus knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Concord likes a good challenge.

Central Cabarrus is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Robinson just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 79-70 to the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 80th).

Defeat or not, Central Cabarrus got some senior leadership from Cayden Smith and Kevonta' Martin. Smith went 6 of 12 en route to 19 points and five rebounds, while Martin posted 14 points along with five assists and four blocks. Smith's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Infinite Morrow, who had ten points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Concord also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Northwest Cabarrus by a score of 59-52.

Concord's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-5. As for Central Cabarrus, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Everything came up roses for Central Cabarrus against Concord in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured an 85-44 win. In that game, Central Cabarrus amassed a halftime lead of 57-22, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
