Baseball Game Preview: Creek Wood Red Hawks vs. Lawson Lightning

The Creek Wood Red Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Lawson Lightning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Creek Wood will be strutting in after a win while Lawson will be coming in after a defeat.

Creek Wood had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Waverly Central on Friday. Creek Wood never let Waverly Central get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Red Hawks, who have now won three matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Creek Wood got a great performance from Brody Butts as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Boone Harris, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles. Those doubles were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ej Larkin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Lawson was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Overton.

Creek Wood pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lawson, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Everything went Creek Wood's way against Lawson in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Creek Wood made off with a 13-3 victory. Will Creek Wood repeat their success, or does Lawson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
