Softball Game Preview: Cyprus Pirates vs. Kearns Cougars

For the second straight game, Cyprus will face off against Kearns. The Pirates will square off against the Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Cyprus will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Cyprus is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Kearns 18-2. Considering the Pirates have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Breelyn ( Bree ) Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ajla Hadzialijagic, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Calee Sharp was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Cyprus' victory bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Kearns, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.
