Softball Game Preview: Regina Dominican Panthers vs. Northside Mustangs

The Regina Dominican Panthers will face off against the Northside Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Regina Dominican's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Northside has been banged up by 13 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Regina Dominican's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Francis W. Parker. Considering the Panthers have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Volkers was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Fraterrigo, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Izzie Christensen, who earned two RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Regina Dominican hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Northside fell victim to Lane Tech and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Champions. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Regina Dominican's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Northside, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
