Basketball Game Preview: Southside Christian Sabres vs. Palmetto Mustangs

The Southside Christian Sabres will head out on the road to take on the Palmetto Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Southside Christian has three straight victories, Palmetto has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

If Southside Christian beats Palmetto with 44 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Southside Christian snuck past Christ Church Episcopal with a 44-38 win on Friday.

Meanwhile, Palmetto was beaten by St. Joseph's Catholic 70-31 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Knights are ranked 103rd).

Palmetto's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Southside Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Southside Christian strolled past Palmetto in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 62-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southside Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
