Softball Recap: Burbank Takes a Loss

Burbank had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-12 to make it five. They lost 21-2 to the Foothill Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-5 on Wednesday.

As for Foothill, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-5. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won nine matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

For Foothill's part, Chloe Vaca was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Vaca a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Foothill got a massive performance out of Alexis Collier, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Collier is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Isabelle Villalpando was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Burbank wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 20-0 defeat against Fairfield on the 1st. As for Foothill, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-0 loss against Johnson on the 1st.
