Softball Recap: Kennedy Takes a Loss

If Kennedy was riding high fresh off their 16-1 takedown of Colton on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Country Christian Cougars on Monday. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 11-1.

Grace Traeger put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Traeger wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gabriela Farnsworth, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Kennedy's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Country Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennedy will head out to take on Regis at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 14.3 runs per game this season. As for Country Christian, they are taking a road trip to square off against Colton at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
