Recap: Washington Eagles vs. Lincoln Mustangs
After soaring to 31 points the game before, The Washington Eagles were a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Lincoln, falling 50-6. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Washington in their matchups with Lincoln: they've now lost nine in a row.
Jamelle Newman went supernova for Lincoln, rushing for 173 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Newman's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards.
Another reason for the win was Lincoln's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Mekai Smith and his two sacks.
Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Lincoln, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will take on Lowell at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincoln, they will be playing at home against Burton at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Burton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
