It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Johnson Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Pikeville Panthers 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Golden Eagles sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Johnson Central's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Pikeville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-14.

Coming up, Johnson Central is taking a road trip to face off against Prestonsburg at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blackcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.53 runs per game on average), something the Golden Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. Pikeville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
