Basketball Recap: Murrah Comes Up Short

Murrah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 43-34 to the Germantown Mavericks. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mavericks from their previous meeting back in January of 2025.

When it comes to explaining why Murrah lost, don't look at Khloe Stidwell. Despite the final result, she posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Stidwell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Danielle Melton was another key player, putting up nine points.

Germantown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jurnee Brewer led the charge by going 5-for-9 to rack up 11 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandria Jones, who had four points along with 11 boards and three steals.

Murrah's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Germantown, they moved to 5-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Murrah will welcome Starkville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Yellowjackets have now posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Germantown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clinton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
