Basketball Game Preview: Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Wheatland-Chili Wildcats

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will square off against the Wheatland-Chili Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Wheatland-Chili will be up against a hot Notre Dame team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Notre Dame took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 76-36 win over Webber. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-20.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Notre Dame to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evan Fitzpatrick, who went 5-for-10 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Antinore, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 11 points and eight boards.

Notre Dame was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wheatland-Chili, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 55-46 victory over Oakfield-Alabama on Friday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Wheatland-Chili pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Notre Dame, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.

Notre Dame was able to grind out a solid victory over Wheatland-Chili in their previous meeting back in January, winning 62-53. Will Notre Dame repeat their success, or does Wheatland-Chili have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
