Recap: Hillcrest Trojans vs. Poly Bears

After a string of four wins, the Hillcrest Trojans's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. The contest between Hillcrest and Poly wasn't particularly close, with Hillcrest falling 64-49. Hillcrest lost against Poly in their previous head to head back in December of 2018, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 45-24 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Hillcrest lost, one person who can't be blamed is McKel Shedrick. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Shedrick also pulled down eight rebounds for the first time this season. Jonathan Celestine was another key contributor, scoring five points.

Hillcrest's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Poly, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillcrest will take on Arlington at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Poly, they will play host again and welcome Damien, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Damien knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Poly likes a good challenge.
