Baseball Recap: Marshall's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Marshall had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Lawrenceville Indians. The victory was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Payton McGuire made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

McGuire wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Osborn, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Osborn a new career-high.

Marshall's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Lawrenceville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Marshall nor Lawrenceville have any future games scheduled.
