Baseball Recap: Sarasota Christian Has No Trouble Against Babcock

While Sarasota Christian put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Babcock. The Sarasota Christian Blazers blew past the Babcock Trailblazers 10-0. Considering the Blazers have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Rowan Baum made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up a triple, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Sarasota Christian let Justin Brock and Evan Poznanski run wild. Brock scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-3, while Poznanski went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most stolen bases Brock has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Randall Collins, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Sarasota Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Babcock only posted an OBP of .278.

Sarasota Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. With the loss, Babcock broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Sarasota Christian will challenge Bradenton Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, Babcock and Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 6:30 p.m. on March 25th. Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Babcock surely won't give up without a fight.
