Baseball Recap: Flagler Palm Coast Triumphs

Flagler Palm Coast won the last time they faced Matanzas and things went their way on Thursday too. Flagler Palm Coast walked away with a 9-4 win over Matanzas. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Marion Clayton and Nole Hemmerle did most of the damage at the plate: Clayton scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Hemmerle scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Clayton is becoming a predictor of Flagler Palm Coast's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Sanabria, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Flagler Palm Coast picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-9. As for Matanzas, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home.

Flagler Palm Coast wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-10 defeat against Lyman on the 17th. As for Matanzas, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-5 loss against Palatka on the 14th.
