Philip Simmons suffers third straight loss at home

Recap: Philip Simmons Iron Horses vs. Stratford Knights

It was a good run, but the Philip Simmons Iron Horses unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Stratford 65-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Carlio Jenkins and Weston Coggeshall certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Jenkins scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds, while Coggeshall scored 15 points along with 9 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Travaris Walker, who scored 7 points along with 11 rebounds.

Kristion Swift was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 25 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zanquel Baldwin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Philip Simmons has yet to win a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 6-2 record. As for Stratford, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Philip Simmons will face off against Porter-Gaud at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Porter-Gaud's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Stratford, they will head out on the road to face off against West Ashley at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
