Basketball Recap: Winston-Salem Prep Takes a Loss

Winston-Salem Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 58-7 loss at the hands of the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals. The Phoenix were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-4.

Kaylen Williamson had an outrageously good game for Cornerstone Charter as she almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Williamson a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Kamryn Stephens, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Winston-Salem Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Cornerstone Charter, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 6-10.

While Winston-Salem Prep had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
