Softball Recap: Hershey Find Success

18 must be Hershey's lucky number: they beat Holyoke with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Panthers beat the Dragons by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 18-1. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Ellie Hampton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alayna Feeney, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara Denny, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Hershey's record is now 5-13. As for Holyoke, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hershey will head out to face off against Southern Valley/Alma at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holyoke, they will venture away from home to challenge Bennett at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.67 runs per game on average), something the Dragons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
