Baseball Recap: De La Salle's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

De La Salle extended their winning streak to nine on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 19-3 in the process. They blew past the California Grizzlies 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Graham Schlicht tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Antonio Castro, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Blair, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

De La Salle hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as California struck out eight times.

As for California, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since March 1st.

On California's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Olberg, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

De La Salle will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Grizzlies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
