Basketball Preview: Alexandria City Titans vs. South County Stallions

The Alexandria City Titans will head out on the road to challenge the South County Stallions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Alexandria City's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.

Last Thursday, Alexandria City beat the Bruins 55-48. Given Alexandria City's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Bruins are ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alexandria City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tarik Sesay, who scored 14 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sesay has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Darius Bivins, who scored ten points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, South County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against Robinson by a score of 61-52. That's two games straight that South County has won by exactly nine points.

Alexandria City's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. As for South County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Alexandria City didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Stallions in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 59-55 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alexandria City since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
