Basketball Recap: Corbin Guerry's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Ashley over Summerville

West Ashley lost against Summerville back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The West Ashley Wildcats took a 66-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Summerville Green Wave. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West Ashley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corbin Guerry, who went 5 for 8 en route to 11 points and seven boards. Kendell Mack was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, West Ashley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive matches.

West Ashley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Summerville, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3.

West Ashley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-50 loss against James Island on the 31st. Summerville has also already played their next contest, a 100-31 victory against Stall on the 31st.
