Football Recap: Peninsula Keeps St. Monica's Under Pressure

Peninsula was the 49-34 winner over St. Monica when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Panthers took a hard 25-7 fall against the Mariners on Friday. The Panthers were down 25-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Peninsula lost, don't look at Kamran Dowlatshai. Despite the final result, he rushed for 93 yards and one TD, and also picked up 31 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Peninsula's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Clinton Anokute, Chris Valero, and Cash Finn, who each picked up one sack apiece. Anokute was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Peninsula's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. Monica, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Peninsula has already played their next contest, a 20-14 defeat against West on the 5th. As for St. Monica, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 40-0 victory against Huntington Park on the 5th.
