Softball Recap: Liberty Extends Winning Streak to Four

Liberty waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Apple Valley Sun Devils 16-5. The Bison might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by nine runs or more this season.

Liberty got a great performance from Janessa Guigliano as she struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Those hits were Guigliano's first of the season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cameryn Rutkoff, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Yasmine Lopez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Apple Valley only posted an OBP of .400.

Liberty's record is now 4-5. As for Apple Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2-1.

Coming up, Liberty will welcome JW North at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Apple Valley, they will challenge Victor Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Victor Valley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.75 runs per game on average), something Apple Valley will no doubt try to take advantage of.
