Football Recap: St. Augustine Comes Up Short

After flying high against Ribault last Wednesday, St. Augustine came back down to earth. The Yellow Jackets took an 18-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bartram Trail Bears on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-14 back in March.

Bartram Trail's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaila Pierce, who threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.7% of her passes. 128 of Pierce's passing yards were hauled in by Layla Davis.

St. Augustine's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Bartram Trail, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

St. Augustine has already played their next game, a 42-0 victory against Englewood on the 14th. As for Bartram Trail, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 27-13 win against Middleburg on the 14th.
