Baseball Recap: Merrillville Takes a Loss

Merrillville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hammond Bishop Noll Warriors. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2022.

Merrillville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Darien Wiggins, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Merrillville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Merrillville will face off against West Lafayette at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, they will challenge Hammond Central at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
