Baseball Recap: Bishop Alemany Takes a Loss

Bishop Alemany was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Loyola Cubs. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cubs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Bishop Alemany got a good showing from Franky Maga?a, who struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Maga?a has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chase Stevenson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Jayden Lusk also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bishop Alemany now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Loyola, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

While Bishop Alemany had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
