            Softball Recap: Hunter Wolverines vs. Skyline Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against West Jordan, Hunter was happy to have turned things around  on Friday. They blew past the Skyline Eagles 20-2. With that  win, the Wolverines brought their scoring average up to 7.1  runs per game.
 LEILA AIONO made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out seven batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned runs off   six  hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with one  home run, four  runs,  and three  RBI.
 In other batting news, Hunter got a  massive  performance out of  KENYA LAPUAHO, who  got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with one  home run, five  RBI,  and three  runs. That's the most  RBI  LAPUAHO has posted since back in April of 2024.  LOIANA IONGI was another key player,  scoring three  runs and  stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
 Hunter  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .667. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.

Hunter's victory  ended  an  eight-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 4-5. As for Skyline,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 3-10.
 Coming up, Hunter will challenge Taylorsville at 12:00  p.m.  on Monday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.2  runs per game this season. As for Skyline, they will get a bit of extra time to process the  defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brighton at 3:30  p.m.  on  the 15th.
