Baseball Game Preview: Community Vikings/Viqueens vs. Huntland Hornets

Community has gone 8-2 against Huntland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Vikings/Viqueens will head out on the road to square off against the Hornets. Huntland took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Community, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Community beat Cannon County 6-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings/Viqueens.

Kaleb Maillet spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hayden Davis was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

Meanwhile, Huntland came up short against Cascade on Tuesday, falling 10-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Champions: they've now lost six in a row.

Huntland's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Community, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Community was able to grind out a solid victory over Huntland in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings/Viqueens since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
