Baseball Game Preview: Kent City Eagles vs. Orchard View Cardinals

The Kent City Eagles will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Orchard View Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kent City will be strutting in after a win while Orchard View will be coming in after a loss.

Kent City is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Lee. Kent City's pitcher stepped up to hand Lee a 17-0 shutout on Thursday.

Zach Flegel made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Flegel was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Aaron Vanderwest was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Sammy Anderson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Orchard View came up short against Muskegon Catholic Central on Monday, falling 12-1.

Everything went Kent City's way against Orchard View in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Kent City made off with a 15-3 victory. Will Kent City repeat their success, or does Orchard View has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
