Basketball Game Preview: Barberton Magics vs. Firestone Falcons

The Barberton Magics are taking a road trip to face off against the Firestone Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Barberton has now lost 12 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 14.

Barberton is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Tallmadge on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Barberton came up short against Tallmadge, falling 59-38. While losing is never fun, the Magics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 624th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 116th).

Meanwhile, Firestone had to suffer through a 92-13 loss at the hands of Washington. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.

Firestone got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Kennedy Whiting and Mariah Richards, who each put up four points.

Barberton's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Firestone, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Barberton came up short against Firestone in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 42-31. Can Barberton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
