Basketball Recap: Gulf Buccaneers vs. Land O' Lakes Gators
Even though the Gulf Buccaneers have not done well against the Land O' Lakes Gators recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Gulf came out on top against the Gators by a score of 56-49. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Gulf.
It was another big night for Jaydn Wood, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of William Ruffin, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
When it comes to explaining why Land O' Lakes lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maxwell Moore. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Moore pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jadyn Murria was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds.
Gulf's victory bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Land O' Lakes, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-18.
Gulf will be playing at home against the Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Nature Coast Tech is ranked 490th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 483rd). As for Land O' Lakes, they will head out on the road to square off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
