Softball Game Preview: Onaga Buffaloes vs. Marysville Bulldogs

The Onaga Buffaloes will take on the Marysville Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

If Onaga beats Marysville with 11 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Onaga beat Jackson Heights on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1.

Willow Hochstedler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Hochstedler was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Jadyn Haskin was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abbie Ringel, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Meanwhile, Marysville made easy work of Sabetha on Tuesday and carried off a 16-6 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bulldogs have posted against the Bluejays since March 31, 2022.

The team relied heavily on Lindsey Dressman, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Siemens, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Marysville has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs this season. As for Onaga, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
