Baseball Recap: George West Longhorns vs. Aransas Pass Panthers
After flying high against Mathis last Tuesday, George West came back down to earth. The Longhorns fell 5-1 to the Aransas Pass Panthers on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-10 back in March.
Vance Partridge was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Conner Little made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Trevor Poe, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.
George West has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-15-2 record this season. As for Aransas Pass, they moved to 7-11-1 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
