Softball Recap: Abbeville Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Abbeville finally came back down to earth on Monday. They came up short against the Crowley Gent, falling 15-1. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Gent earlier this season, when they won 8-7.

Abbeville moved to 9-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Crowley, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-10.

Looking ahead, Abbeville will host Jeanerette at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Crowley, they are taking a road trip to take on Vermilion Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.71 runs per game on average), something the Gent will no doubt try to take advantage of.
