The Nute Rams will take on the Concord Christian Kingsmen at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Nute will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Portsmouth Christian Academy, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rams blew past the Eagles 11-4 on Monday. The victory was nothing new for the Rams as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Brody Leeman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Leeman was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Nute let Silas Picard and Cooper Janis run wild. Picard went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Janis got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits Picard has posted since back in May of 2024. Ryan Kane was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Nute always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portsmouth Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .345.
Concord Christian came out on top against Wilton-Lyndeborough on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Kingsmen were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Warriors. The win was familiar territory for the Kingsmen, who have now won three games in a row.
TJ Charbono made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Grady St Jean was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jackson Barton, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Nute pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Concord Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Concord Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Nute hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. It's a different story for Concord Christian, though, as they've only averaged .229. Will they be able to contain Nute's hitters?
