Basketball Recap: Northeastern Takes a Loss

After flying high against Manteo last Thursday, Northeastern came back down to earth. The Northeastern Eagles came up short against the Currituck County Knights on Tuesday, falling 61-40. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-45 back in January.

Currituck County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Arianna White out in front who went 7 for 10 to rack up 16 points and five steals. White has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amani Dawson, who posted 17 points.

Northeastern suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 11-5. As for Currituck County, they pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Northeastern will challenge Pasquotank County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Currituck County, they will head out to take on First Flight at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. First Flight will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Currituck County surely won't give up without a fight.
